Fine weather continues to bless the area and members' of Gorleston Golf Club are reaping the benefit by competing in near perfect golfing conditions.

This week the Seniors played their annual Dennis Orton Cup, a stableford competition over 18 holes. The winner with 41 points was Terry Woolnough, second on count back from Stephen Gee was Paul Dashwood with 38 points. After the competition all competitors enjoyed a fish and chip lunch.

On Wednesday the ladies played their Divisional Stableford competition with the following results: winner of Division 1 was Jan Parsons with 34 points with Jayne Standen second on 31 points. Division 2 winner was Jenny Watson on count back from Andree Bloomfield with 36 points in second place.

The last of the summer midweek stableford competitions was won by Trevor Jarrad with 37 points on count back from Martin Farrow. John Hopwood was third with 35 points.

The Ladies played their annual Flag Trophy and the winner was Rosemary Woodhouse (pictured), who also won this competition last year, with a super nett 70, which included a birdie on the 19 hole. Pauline Phillips was second with a net 72.

Thursday was the final of the Midweek Summer Stableford competition which was won by Matt Gee with 41 points, in second place was Glen Harman with 39 points on countback from Ray Thomson.

On Friday in cold and windy conditions the Juniors had their Club Championship which was won by Charles Peacock with a nett 74 in second place was Jack Butcher with a nett 77 on countback from Thomas Hellary. The Ladies and NSPGA (North Sea Petroleum and Gas Association) also played a renewal of what had been their annual fiercely fought competition. This year the scoring was an amazing tie at 271 points for each team and, therefore, an honourable draw.
