Despite the challenges of playing winter golf on the country's most easterly golf course members of Gorleston Golf Club commenced their New Year Competitions with super scoring.

On Sunday the Men's Section played their first Monthly Medal of 2019 with the following super results: Division 1 - first, Tom Naylor with a nett 66 on countback from Keith Wright in second place. Division 2 - first, Andrew Witthames with a nett 68 from Colin Beare in second place with 69 nett. Division 3 - first, Barry Landles with 69 nett on countback from Mark Morgan in second place.

On Wednesday in dull drizzle, the Ladies Section played their first Divisional Stableford and the results were as follows: Division 1 - first, Heather Harvey with 35 points from Jan Parsons in second place with 29 points. Division 2 - first, Vera Woolnough with 29 points, second - Sheena Emrick with 24 points. Division 3 - first, Terry Wilkinson with 27 points and in second place was Rosemary Hodgkin with 26 points.

On Thursday the Midweek Stableford results were as follows: Division 1 - first, Paul Platten with 38 points, second was Steven Hall with 34 points. Division 2 - first, Bernard McKernan with 35 points, second, Neil Cunliffe with 32 points. Division 3 - first, Glenn Lark with 31 points from Scott Watson with 30 points in second place.
