Double success recorded in testing weather conditions for Gorleston Golf Club Men's Teams in the first round Suffolk County Matches both of which were played at home.

The first round of the Hambro County Knockout was played against a strong team from Haverhill Golf Club who had proved difficult adversaries in previous years. This competition is played over 36 holes in foursomes format with a cumulative scoring and all matches played to a conclusion. After the morning round the Gorleston squad of: James Chadd, Ben Leuty, Danny Western, Mark Seeley, Stephen Crosby, Daniel Crosby, Danny Perring, Brandon Gough and Lee Chapman, were two up. The afternoon was also close fought with Gorleston recording a super victory six up. They will go on to play their next round match against Bungay and Waveney Golf Club and we wish them every success.

On the same day the Tolly Squad took on the team from Ipswich Golf Club knowing it would be a tough ask as Ipswich were the winners of this competition last year. This competition is also held over 36 holes and played in foursomes format. The scores stood all square after the morning round so it was all to play for in the afternoon. The Gorleston Team put in a fantastic effort and eventually prevailed 2 up and go forward to play at home against Diss Golf Club in the second round.

Meanwhile the Ladies Section played a Divisional Medal Competition with the following results: Division 1: first Jan Parsons with a nett 74, second Anne Amos with a nett 78 on countback. Division 2: first Jenny Watson with a nett 73 from Ladies Captain, Andree Bloomfield, in second place with a nett 74. Division 3: first with a brilliant nett 62 was Maggie Hart and in second place with a nett 71 was Leigh Denny.

On Wednesday the Ladies played a Divisional Medal and West Cup Qualifier with the following results: Division 1 - first, Heather Harvey with nett 73 on countback from Anne Amos in second place. Division 2 - first Sheila Sterry with a nett 73, second Sheena Emrick with a nett 74.
