Mixed results for two of Gorleston Golf Club's Mens Teams in Suffolk County Knockout Competitions at the weekend.

On Sunday the Men's Hambro Team travelled to Bungay and Waveney Valley Golf Course to play in their next round of this foursomes competition over 36 holes. At lunch time despite testing conditions the teams were all square, however, by the end of the afternoon round Bungay had prevailed.

The Tolly Team took on the team from Diss Golf Club at home. This is also a 36 hole Suffolk County knock out Competition. The Gorleston Team were in fine form being 8 up at lunch and went on to record a super win 16 up. They progress to the next round away to Woodbridge Golf Club and in passing on sincere congratulations we wish them good luck on 23 June.

On Bank Holiday Monday members enjoyed a Florida Scramble where teams of four took part. The winners on the day were the team of David Butcher, David Barkes, Ian and Julie Harbord with a nett 57, in second place were - Jenny and Kenneth Howlett, Peter Aldred and Jayne Standen on nett 61. Great scoring from the teams in this 'fun' format.

On Tuesday the annual 3 Score and Ten, ten hole medal competition was held for men over the age of 70. The winner of the competition and the Trophy was Keith Ridsdale who beat Angus Smith into second place.

On Wednesday the Ladies Section played in the National Australian Spoons Competition. The winners on the day were the pairing of Jayne Standen and Leigh Denny and we wish them good luck in the Regional Final at Thetford Golf Club on 18 July.

Saturday morning saw the Men's Section take part in their annual Famous Grouse Foursomes Medal Competition. The scoring on the day was very tight with the winners being John Cater and Jamie Gough (pictured) with 71.5 on countback from Les Dukes and Mike Haylett in second place.
