On Saturday the Stenson Squad took on a strong team from Ipswich Golf Club in this Suffolk County 36 hole scratch knock out. The Ipswich team included six plus handicappers so a victory was always going to be a tough ask. The morning dawned clear, bright and still and the score after the morning four foursomes matches stood at 2.5 to 1.5 with Ipswich 1 up. However, after lunch a strong southerly wind blew up making the eight singles matches quite a different prospect. Excellent wins from Gorleston's Danny Perring 5&4 and Jack Butcher 5&3 followed with the other six matches tensely close. Spectators witnessed some spectacular golf and the match couldn't have been closer. Team Captain, Chris Duffy, brought up the rear secured a super 3&1 victory. It was all resolved on the 18 green when Brendan Gough sunk a 8 footer and secured a win for the home team. On passing on congratulations for this super win we wish them the very best of luck in the next round where they take on the holders at Bury St Edmunds Golf Club.

On Wednesday the Ladies played their Ping Qualifier Match with the winners, Immediate Past Ladies Captain, Maggie Hart and Sheila Sterry, hoping to progress to the National Finals.

The Thursday Stableford results were as follows: Division 1: first - Jamie Chisholm with 39 points from Jack Butcher in second place on countback on 37 points. Division 2: first - Nigel Stone with a super 43 points from Martin Farrow with 40 points on countback. Division 3: first - Brian McKinna with 38 points from Aaron Meale on 36 points on countback.

On Friday the Past and Present Lady Captains held their annual stableford competition followed by lunch. The winner this year was June Elliot (Pictured)with 35 points and in second place was Christine Knappett with 34 points.
