Members at Gorleston Golf Club are enjoying the fabulous weather and the pristine condition of the course where the Sand Martins swoop and the scent of wild lupins drift across the fairways. It was a week of fun where Charity Competitions came to the fore and super amounts were raised by those taking part.

Sixty Eight players took to the course to support Club Captain, Howard Thornton's Charity Day. It was a serious and fun day with an astounding £2729 being raised for his designated Charity, Prostrate Cancer.

On Sunday the Men's Section played for the President's Putter which is an annual competition. This year a near full field took part and the winner on the day was Ray Thompson with 38 points on countback from Alan Attoe in second place.

Wednesday saw 30 ladies play in Ladies President's Day with 41 ladies joining Penny Platten for the post competition meal and prize giving. A raffle was also held for the Ladies Captain's designated Charity, Norfolk's Big C, which raised £355. The results of the foursomes competition were as follows: First Place and winners of the President's Rose Bowl were the pairing of Sue Smith and Leigh Denny with 40 points. In second place were Anne Amos and Sheila Sterry with 39 points.

The Thursday Midweek Stableford results were as follows: Division 1 - first, Owen Darby with 39 points from Steven Hall in second place with 37 points on countback. Division 2 - first Tony Cater with a super 41 points and second on countback was Andrew Clifford with 38 points. Division 3 - first, Brian McKinna with 38 points and second was John Harrison with 37 points.

On Saturday's Mixed Foursomes 23 pairs took part in the Annual Lifeboat Competition where this year £158 was raised for the local branch of the RNLI. The results were as follows: First with 38 points were husband and wife team Sue and Angus Smith and in second place were the pairing of Jayne Standen and Peter Aldred with 37 points on countback.
