Members of Gorleston Golf Club enjoyed their Christmas and New Year Competitions and this was reflected in some super scores being recorded for the time of year.

The Maddock Tankards traditionally is the beginning of the celebrations and this year a super £300 was raised for the Sandra Chapman Unit at the James Paget Hospital. This year the competition was won somewhat fittingly by John Maddock and Keith Newberry with 40 points.

On Sunday the Men's Section Monthly Stableford was played with the following results: Division 1 - first, Ray Thompson with 36 points and second on countback with 35 points was Peter Langford. Division 2 - first, Alan Rash with 36 points and second with 35 points on countback was Jason Baxter. Division 3 - first, Martin Bullen with 36 points on countback from Dan Buckley in second place.

On Wednesday the Ladies played their annual Centenary Trophy Competition which is a ten hole foursomes format followed by a Christmas style lunch. The winners on the day, which was sunny and warm, were Kinza Ellis and Immediate Past Ladies Captain, Maggie Hart, with a super 19 points on countback from Jenny Watson and Jean Eagling in second place. This was particularly exciting for Kinza as she celebrated winning her first golf trophy (pictured).

On Saturday the annual Christmas Mixed Foursomes was held with the following results: first, Ian and Julie Harbord with 34 points and in second place were Rosemary Woodhouse and Jim Robinson with 32 points.
